Press Release 

A reception was hosted by the Embassy of India, Astana commemorating the 76th Republic Day of India on 24th January in Astana. About 300 guests including diplomatic corps, local government officials and business executives, media representatives, friends of India and the Indian community graced the occasion. H.E. Mr. Kaiarat Torabayev, Vice Minister for Trade and Integration was the Chief Guest representing the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

  1. Ambassador Dr. T. V. Nagendra Prasad in his remarks highlighted the significance of the Constitution in development of India as the most vibrant democracy and also the fifth largest economy in the world. He also mentioned about the co-existence of Tradition & Technology and the ongoing largest spiritual gathering at the ‘Maha-Kumbh’. On India-Kazakhstan bilateral relations, Ambassador has pointed to civilizational linkages, prospects for strengthening of relations across the sectors and the cooperation at the International Fora like SCO, CICA and India-Central Asia Dialogue. He also mentioned about exchange of High Level visits on regular basis and the visit of EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar and his meetings with the leadership in Astana in July 2024. He informed about the availing of ITEC and ICCR scholarships by Kazakh citizens and training being imparted by Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre(SVCC), ICCR in Yoga and Indian culture across Kazakhstan.  He mentioned about the spike in Indian tourists visiting Kazakhstan during the last year which was over 100,000.
  2. Chief Guest H.E. Mr. Kairat Torabayev while agreeing with Ambassador’s remarks mentioned about the Joint Working Group Meeting he led on the same day with Indian counterpart, indicating the keen interest on both sides in strengthening relations and the prospects. He mentioned about the institutional mechanisms like Inter Governmental Commission etc for exploring further opportunities. He said that India was very important to Kazakhstan in its quest for growth and development.
  3. The cultural show titled ‘Indra Dhanush’ meaning ‘Rainbow’ exclusively curated for the occasion by SVCC with the artists from Moscow and the Astana Musical Theatre was very well received and enthralled the audience.
