Seminar on “Reimagining Connectivity – India-Kazakhstan Trade-Role of INSTC”
The Embassy of India, Astana, in association with Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU), organized a seminar titled “Reimagining Connectivity – India-Kazakhstan Trade-Role of INSTC”, with a special focus on the International North-South Transport Corridor on 11 March, 2025.
The seminar was chaired by H.E. Dr. T.V. Nagendra Prasad, Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan, and featured distinguished speakers including Mr. Sanzhar Ualikhanov, Director of the Asia Pacific Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ashok Sajjanhar, Former Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan and Mr DP Srivastava as well as other prominent speakers from Vivekanand International Foundation, Manohar Parrikar Institute of Defense Studies and Analysis, Representatives from Indian, Iranian and Kazakh logistics sector, MNU, and subject matter specialists of the Central Asian Region.
In his keynote address, Ambassador Dr. T.V. Nagendra Prasad emphasized that “Connectivity serves as the foundation of economic growth, regional stability, and global integration. INSTC is a key initiative that aims to enhance connectivity, reduce transport costs, and integrate regional economies with global supply chains. This corridor holds immense potential to strengthen ties between India and Central Asia, particularly Kazakhstan to boost trade and commerce.”
Mr Sanzhar Ualikhanov, Director, Asia Pacific Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan stressed that India is a key partner and added that INSTC was a crucial initiative that can unlock new trade opportunities and enhance mutual trade between India and Kazakhstan.
The seminar conducted by the Embassy of India provided a platform for government officials, policy makers, academics, and industry experts to exchange insights on potential of bilateral trade, challenges in full scale implementation of INSTC, and the roadmap for enhancing mutual trade between India and the Central Asian Region within the framework of INSTC.
