On October 06, 2023, Ambassador Dr. T. V. Nagendra Prasad presented the letter of credence appointing him as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan to H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Hon’ble President of Kazakhstan conveyed his greetings to the leadership and people of India.
After the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Prasad made a brief press statement where he said -
“I am honoured to present my credentials to Hon’ble President of the Republic of Kazakhstan His Excellency Mr Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. I conveyed greetings from the leadership and people of India.
The relationship between India and Kazakhstan is multifaceted encompassing political and security consultations, trade and economic ties, education and cultural ties, and cooperation in transit &connectivity, healthcare, defence, energy and strategic sectors. Our countries are Strategic Partners since 2009.
Last year, we celebrated the 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Besides strong bilateral relations founded on history, India and Kazakhstan also actively cooperate through Multilateral Fora including CICA, SCO and the United Nations.
Regular exchange of visits at all levels from both sides and H.E. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s two visits to Kazakhstan in the past 6 years (in 2015 and 2017) have contributed to the development of wide ranging cooperation in all areas of bilateral and multilateral relations.
The First India-Central Asia Summit, hosted by India in January 2022 and attended by President Tokayev was one of the milestones of our bilateral partnership. Both countries are working in the direction of achieving the objectives and vision espoused by our leaders to carry forward the bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
This year in January, President Tokayev participated in the ‘Voice of the Global South Summit’ organized by India. I am happy to share that the concerns of global south were successfully included in the outcome document of the G20 Summit chaired by India in New Delhi last month.
Kazakhstan is India’s largest trade and investment partner in Central Asia and bilateral trade and economic cooperation is expected to expand further with increased linkages of the INSTC route. It is the third consecutive year in which USD 2 bln bilateral trade was achieved. There is a hugh potential to improve our commercial cooperation in the fields such as pharmaceuticals, digital development, medical tourism, engineering goods, petroleum products, renewable energy sector, services, etc.
We are looking forward to the successful Kazakh chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Today India is the fastest growing large economy and has recently become the 5th largest economy in the world. With one of the youngest populations and the ongoing reforms in the face of supply chain issues during the Covid, Kazakhstan and India have great potential in various emerging sectors. India looks forward to further expand and deepen bilateral ties in all mutually beneficial areas.”
