The 9th International Day of Yoga 2022 in the city of Astana is organized on 17 June 2022 by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Astana with the support of the Ministry of Culture & Sport, Ministry of Healthcare, Astana Ballet Theatre and the Mayor Office Astana City at the iconic Forecourt of the Astana Ballet Theatre. Mr. Beibut Yessenbayev, Vice-Minister of Healthcare, Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Vice-Minister of Culture & Sports, Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Roza Sarsenova, Deputy Director of Administration, Ministry of Science & Higher Education and Mr. Yerkegali Korbozov Deputy Head, Department of Physical Training & Sports of Astana City Mayor Office were among the prominent Kazakh dignitaries who attended the celebration along with Ambassador of India, Ms. Shubhadarshini Tripathi.
Describing the theme of IDY 2023 “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – the World is One Family”, Ambassador Shubhadarshini Tripathi, in her welcome remarks, highlighted that India considers Kazakhstan an important partner in all spheres of our bilateral relations. Describing that Yoga produces a union of body, mind, and spirit to bring about a state of calmness and happiness, Ambassador Tripathi underlined that the celebration of Yoga Day in Astana is also an example of the union of our Kazakh partners that includes teams of Ministry of Culture & Sports, Astana Ballet, Astana Mayor’s Office and Astana Security and Police Services, who have extended tremendous support to the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the Embassy of India in organizing this grand event.
Vice-Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Ye. Yerkinbaev, in his speech noted that Kazakhstan and India have long-standing friendly ties, and yoga today serves as one of the bridges that unite our peoples.
Kazakh dignitaries encouraged the participants by joining the Yoga Practice Session led by well-trained Yoga experts of Yoga Family Astana. Yoga Family Astana comprises of various Yoga studios and experts of Astana who are engaged in conducting Yoga sessions for common people at their studios located in various parts of the city.
About 1500 participants practised the Common Yoga Protocol demonstrated by the experts of Yoga Family Astana. The event concluded with the felicitation of four senior Kazakh Yoga experts practising Yoga for decades, namely Ms. Vidya Volkova, Mr. Abdumanap Zhaisanov, Mr. Alexander Seronozhenko and Ms. Ekaterina Kotkova by the Ambassador of India as an acknowledgement of their contribution for the spread of Yoga in Kazakhstan.
