“Parampara – Traditions” - the Festival of Indian Culture

Press Release

The Indian Diaspora in Kazakhstan plays a significant role in promoting various aspects of Indian culture. The members of the Indian community are not only engaged in various commercial activities but have also kept up their Indian cultural traditions while living in Kazakhstan. The Indian community is the main source of making Kazakh people acquainted with Indian culture. Attracted by the vibrancy of Indian culture, many Kazakh people are fond of Indian dance, music, and yoga, as also cuisine, tea, costumes, tourist places, traditional medical system etc. These very aspects of Indian culture connect the local Kazakh community with the Indian people living in Kazakhstan. The government of India attaches great importance to Indians living abroad and launched a scheme for the promotion of cultural ties with the diaspora to strengthen ties with the overseas Indian community and support their efforts to preserve, maintain, and showcase their Indian heritage and culture.

With this mandate, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the Embassy of India has been organizing various activities from time to time. Given the overwhelming support that is extended by the Indian Community in Kazakhstan, SVCC and INCHAM have joined hands to organize “Parampara – Traditions” - the Festival of Indian Culture on 24 March 2023 from 5 pm onwards at the prominent ‘Zhambyl Kazakh State Philharmonic  Concert Hall’ in Almaty. The event would feature the official ceremony with remarks by dignitaries from both sides. Various aspects of Indian culture such as Yoga, Mehendi Art, tour & travel, the traditional medical system of India, souvenirs, Indian tea, costumes, jewellery, cultural presentations by Indian community artists and Gold Step Dance Academy of Astana, Indian music concert by a prominent group from Uzbekistan - “HAVAS Guruhi” etc. will be showcased during this event. Both the Kazakh and Indian communities in Almaty will attend the event.
